MetroFax adds new features to the MetroFax Printer

January 31, 2013/in Online Fax /by Emilie

MetroFax

MetroFax has just released an update to its MetroFax Printer software. MetroFax Printer allows users to send faxes directly from Windows applications with an online download free to any of their customers.

For those that are not already familiar with MetroFax Printer, one of the most useful features is the ability to send faxes directly from Microsoft Office products. You can type up a document in Word and send it via fax without ever having to access your email account, go to MetroFax’s site, or even leave the Word doc you’re sending.

With this update, MetroFax has added many new features to their previous version of the MetroFax Printer.

You can find a full list of all of the new Printer 3.0 features on MetroFax’s website, but a few of them jumped out to us as being particularly valuable. This updated version now offers the ability to automatically print any new faxes. Whenever a fax hits your inbox, it is sent to your printer as long as both your computer and printer are powered on. This feature is helpful to some in that it acts almost like a traditional fax service, without the high cost of the hardware. MetroFax Printer 3.0 also now syncs with any contacts that you have entered on your MetroFax Dashboard, so you won’t have to sign into the dashboard in order to access your contacts before sending faxes.

Other helpful features include: encrypting sent faxes, the ability to use your Yahoo! Mail address book, the ability to send faxes from multiple email addresses, as well as desktop alerts which deliver pop-up notifications when you receive a new fax.

Updates like this to its already feature-rich service along with competitive prices, are why MetroFax is consistently rated and reviewed so positively. For reviews on their most popular plans, visit MetroFax’s company page on FaxCompare.com.

MaxEmail iPhone App Released

June 28, 2012/in Online Fax /by Reece

Feature Image-MaxEmail

MaxEmail has just released an app for the iPhone that allows their account holders to send and receive faxes from their smartphone. Not only can you view all new and old faxes from the app interface, you can also send faxes on the go.

Sending a fax is as easy as taking a picture of the document that you need to fax and sending it through the app. You add the recipients fax number, select the document you’d like to fax, and send it. The MaxEmail iPhone app will clean up the documents so the image is easily read. There are several ways to create a document to fax from your iPhone. You can take a picture of a physical document you have in your possession, you can select an old image from your Camera Roll, or you can use documents that you have stored in other online file storage services, such as DropBox and Google Docs.

While MaxEmail isn’t one of the first companies to release an app for iPhone, it has managed to create a very well-rounded app on its first try.

RingCentral Releases Smartphone Apps for Fax (and Phone Systems)

February 28, 2011/in Online Fax /by Emilie

The software-as-a-service (SaaS) telecom giant, RingCentral, has come out with one of its most handy features for online fax yet. With its release of completely free apps for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry operating systems, RingCentral has opened up a way to receive and forward faxes from wherever you are.

Whether you’re connected to a Wi-Fi or 3G/4G network, getting a fax is as simple as opening up the app and checking your inbox. While it doesn’t allow for the scanning and sending of faxes, you can still forward faxes you receive to other fax numbers through the app.

The other features of RingCentral’s smartphone apps are geared toward its VoIP and virtual PBX customers. These include making long distance calls over Wi-Fi or 3G/4G networks (instead of racking up charges) as well as viewing call logs and your phone directory to dial people “with a single touch.”

All-in-all, this is a great addition to a service that’s constantly improving its feature set. RingCentral’s apps combine the usefulness of its SaaS products with the convenience of having those same capabilities with you at all times on your smartphone.

eFax Releases New Mobile App

November 9, 2010/in Online Fax /by Reece

eFax has released a new iPhone app allowing users of eFax to both send and receive faxes from their phone. This app is only one part of eFax’s new Next initiative, which aims to enhance technology solutions for businesses. The Next initiative improves not only the eFax mobile solutions, but also improves security, enhances the interface to manage your online faxes, and adds other new product integration to the eFax brand.

One of the most notable capabilities of the iPhone app is that it allows you to create faxes by taking pictures of documents with your iPhone. The app will then combine the images and send them out like any other faxed document. If you’d rather fax the documents through email attachments, you can do so using the documents you’ve created in the app. When sending faxes on your iPhone, you can now use your existing phone contact list to populate cover sheets that you have created from the eFax app. The app will also save all of your received faxes and make them easily searchable.

We are hopeful that eFax Next initiative will even further improve the experience of online faxing and that other faxing companies will follow suit.

MyFax iPhone App Released

August 12, 2010/in Online Fax /by Emilie

Citing the evolution of the smartphone from merely a phone to a complete business communications device as the primary instigator, MyFax has released a free iPhone app to use along with the online fax service. The app allows you to receive fax notifications as soon as a fax reaches your account and view the entire fax or just a preview of the transmission.

MyFax’s vice president of marketing, Steve Adams, discussed the app’s benefits, stating that the “new application brings the quick and easy access to fax they love from their current MyFax service to their phone, without compromising the quality they’ve come to expect from us.” He went on to explain that “it also gives mobile workers peace of mind that important documents, like contracts, can be transmitted confidentially – they are no longer at the mercy of the local courier or hotel business center.”

Just like MyFax’s online fax service, the app comes with free updates. So stay tuned for MyFax to add more features to the app in the near future.

[Update: May 13, 2011]

MyFax has now added the ability to scan and send documents directly from the app. This feature makes the app twice as handy as before since you can complete nearly all of the functions of the web interface directly through the app itself, rather than just being able to view incoming faxes.

TrustFax is celebrating its 1 year anniversary, and has quickly become one of the fastest growing online faxing services. Comodo, TrustFax’s parent company, developed the service with the idea of starting an online fax company with a heavy focus on security and identity protection.

TrustFax has just added an eSigning feature to their service. This allows users to save a digital version of their signature and use it to sign documents without ever having to print out, sign, and rescan a document. This feature also allows users to fill out PDF forms online, completely eliminating the need to print any of your faxes. These signatures are legally binding.

Along with digital signing, TrustFax has also launched a “digital filing cabinet” where users can store large files online, including faxes they have signed, and retrieve them through any web browser. They have announced that they also plan on launching a new feature, “Desktop TrustFax,” so keep your eyes open to see how this expands the service’s abilities.

[Update]

RingCentral Adds Electronic Signatures

November 23, 2004/in Online Fax /by Emilie

One of the forerunners in the relatively new online fax service industry has upped the ante when it comes to creating a truly paperless office environment. By adding the ability to scan a copy of your signature and upload it to their “Stamps” toolbox to place onto faxed documents, RingCentral is one of the first services of any kind to offer the ability to sign documents electronically – not to mention giving users the ability to fax those files directly from your computer.

From RingCentral’s press release, uploading the electronic signature looks to be a very straight-forward, four-step process of adding a file into their system. This process only needs to be done once for each person’s signature. Once uploaded, placing the signature on a document is as simple as selecting the signature from the stamp menu and clicking where you need it. Saving trees has never been this easy!
