RapidFAX Conclusion
RapidFAX extended FaxCompare’s customers a special offer providing 1,000 combined fax pages per month for $9.95. They typically only include 350 pages for $13.99 for this plan. However, RapidFAX has a hidden fee in that you’re charged for storing faxes online for more than 30 days. Technically, RapidFax doesn’t offer phone support. However, by calling the sales number, you can usually find someone willing to help. We found its customer support to be somewhat responsive, but unfortunately, it didn’t answer all of our test questions correctly. The feedback we have received from RapidFAX users has been very negative. Many users have complained about lost faxes as well as being billed after canceling.
RapidFAX Details
RapidFAX has a monthly fee of $9.95 with no startup fee for FaxCompare customers; the non-discounted price is $13.99 per month. However, it has a hidden fee in that it automatically charges five cents per page per month to store faxes online after 30 days. You can configure the system to automatically delete the faxes after 30 days, but it stores them indefinitely by default. The exclusive plan offered to FaxCompare customers includes 1,000 free combined incoming and outgoing pages per month, which exceeds our Market Standard. It also offers a 30-day free trial.
It is very easy to send a fax from RapidFAX’s online interface. You can fax a maximum of five documents at once. However, you can only preview the cover page of your fax, not your entire fax, before you send it. You can send a fax to only one recipient at a time. The first 30 days of online fax storage is free; after that, you’re charged at a rate of five cents per page per month. The period of online fax storage meets our Market Standard, but the fees are higher.
RapidFAX offers local fax numbers in 24 states and DC. It does not offer (800) numbers, opting instead for free (855), (866) and (877) numbers. Phone customer support is available 24/7. Its customer support was responsive, but support techs correctly answered only three of the five questions that we asked and changed names half way through the phone call (from RapidFAX to eFax, which now owns RapidFAX).
RapidFAX does not have mobile versions of its product available.
*Note: RapidFAX is owned by j2 Global Communications along with MetroFax, Fax.com, Send2Fax, eFax, SmartFax, MyFax and TrustFax.
