SmartFax’s monthly fee is $6.95 with no startup fee. The Local plan we reviewed offers 250 combined pages per month, which is fewer than the Market Standard of 300 combined pages. SmartFax offers a 30-day free trial period that includes 250 combined pages.

Faxing with SmartFax is very simple. On one convenient page, you’ll enter a recipient’s fax number, attach documents and fill out you cover page. However, you cannot preview a fax before you send. You can send up to five documents at one time and fax only one recipient at a time. You’re able to send faxes from an unlimited number of email addresses, but you can designate only two email addresses to receive faxes. Online fax storage is free for 30 days, after which you’ll be charged a rate of 8 cents per page per month. This meets the standard of 30 days of free fax storage and the standard overage fee of 10 cents per page per month.

SmartFax offers local numbers in 25 states, plus 40 cities in Canada. It also offers (855), (866), (877), and (888) toll-free numbers for no extra fee. SmartFax’s phone support hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST Monday through Friday. It has above average phone support, but you may be transferred to a higher-up representative for difficult questions.
